YouTube Your Yoga

Yoga has long been noted to be the workout for the mind, body and soul. But did you know that there are a variety of yoga styles? Just to name a few: Vinyasa or Power yoga which incorporates athletic and aerobic movements, Restorative yoga which focuses on rest and relaxation and Bikram or Hot yoga which takes place in a sauna-like room with high temperatures and adjusted humidity to help develop your sweat. With even more yoga styles to list, there is no wonder this exercise-oriented discipline has attracted those of all fitness levels. However, the greatest attribute of a yoga practice is its numerous benefits including:

  • Lower blood pressure
  • Improved focus
  • Decreased stress levels
  • Muscular strength
  • Increased flexibility
  • Hormone regulation

 

Despite the array of styles, levels and benefits of this activity, many people will never try yoga. Reasons we hear for this are not being comfortable trying poses in front of others, no time to try a class or not being able to afford the studio fees. Lucikly, there’s many ways around that including using what many of us already have access to: YouTube!

1. Fightmaster Yoga

Lesley of Fightmaster Yoga offers a variety of yoga styles from Ashtanga to Prenatal to Flow. Her videos help her audience learn to move and stretch through yoga poses while also focusing on a positive psychology that makes an everyday practice worthwhile. With a variety of video lengths from 5 to 40 minutes as well as levels of fitness, Lesley’s YouTube channel is a must-watch!

 

2. Yoga by Adrienne

This channel features videos of yogi Adrianne walking her audience through yoga poses and breathing techniques for 10 minutes to an hour. By providing her audience with a mantra, she focuses her practice on the inner self as much as the outer body.  Adrienne’s new program is called Revolution and can be applied to almost all levels of fitness.

 

3. Sean Vigue Fitness

Sean of Sean Vigue Fitness is without a doubt fun to watch. With his collection of Yoga, Boot camp, Power Yoga, Core, Pilates and Bodyweight videos, he is sure to give you a balanced exercise regimen. Some of Sean’s videos are 5-40 minutes long, focusing on muscular development and endurance. In fact The Huffington Post nominated one of Sean’s Pilates videos as Top Best 50 Workouts.

 

4. Badi Yogi 

The Bad Yogi Channel featuring Erin Motz focuses on the every-day individual looking to adopt a yoga practice by using the motto “failure is welcome here.” The appeal of this channel is her yoga challenges that vary in length of 15 to 30 minutes and encourage all fitness levels to give it a try. Additionally, Motz’s unique approach to the average-person who might just eat meat and drink wine might just help her audience set free the yogi stereotype.
