Menu Monday: How a Registered Dietitian Can Help You

Overcome your dietary roadblocks

Anyone can use the help of a Registered Dietitian (RD), an athlete, a patient diagnosed with Type II Diabetes, a pre surgery individual needing to lose weight, an everyday joe(-ette) like me… absolutely anyone!

According to nutritioned.org, a RD “is a trained nutrition professional who has met the strict educational and experiential standards set forth by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND).”

Specialities for RDs include: sports nutrition, disordered eating, weight management, functional medicine, food allergies, senior health, diabetes, hypertension, women’s health and more. Dependent on a RD’s specialty and population served, he or she may be required to provide menu planning, education on eating habits, health conditions and disorders, dietary tips and so on. If you seek direct dietary help, you should find a RD who specializes in what you need. Learn who at Wellview Health specializes in what you need.

A Registered Dietitian is especially helpful when trying to overcome some stubborn roadblocks you may have, and here’s how.

Planning

A RD is the perfect dietary planning partner. Always show up having tracked 3 or more days of food, drink and medication intake (anything with calories). This will help your RD suggest changes fine-tuning based on your personal health needs and goals.

Knowledge

A RD has spent several years studying his/her specialty and continues to educate his/herself throughout their career on new nutrition information. So you will receive accurate data with transparent answers to your dietary questions when working with one of Wellview Health’s RDs.

Resources

A RD is constantly trying to find new, easy-to-use resources for patients. This is a universal way of meeting patients where they are in order to provide them with the right info at the right time.
